Morgans Hotel Group Has High Hopes for IPO
By Benjamin Mark Cole In another sign that both private and public equity markets are interested in the hospitality industry, the Morgans Hotel Group Co. has increased estimates of the expected proceeds from an initial public offering. The company filed disclosure documents with the US Securities and Exchange Commission indicating that it will raise up to $435 million in the IPO, up from a previously disclosed $300 million.

Capital Watch: Commercial Loan Volume Could Rival 2005 Totals

During the past year, the dollar volume of loans on commercial real estate and multifamily properties surged 48% to $201.7 billion, up from $136.3 billion a year earlier.
